How we calculate
Both funds use the same monthly compounding as the investment calculator: the monthly rate is (1 + (return − fee))^(1/12) − 1 and each deposit is added at the start of the month.
The cost of fees is the final value with the lower fee minus the final value with the higher fee — it includes the growth the fees took away, not just the fees paid.
The return is an assumption, not a promise. Fund fees (TER, platform and advice fees) are in each fund’s key information document.

Questions
- Where do I find a fund’s fees?
- In the key information document (KID/KIID) and the price list of the platform. Add up the ongoing charge (TER) and any platform or advisory fee.
- Is a cheaper fund always better?
- Not automatically — compare funds that invest in the same thing. For the same investment, a lower fee leaves more of the return to you.
- Why is the cost higher than the fees I pay?
- Because money taken as fees can no longer grow. Over decades the lost growth is often bigger than the fees themselves.
